Todd Edward Ivins Design

About

Todd Edward Ivins tells stories through design. As a designer and storyteller, his goal is to be an effective collaborator on every project, creating a design that uniquely encompasses the life of each piece, providing a dynamic environment to support the director’s vision. His work spans opera, plays, musicals, corporate events and newsroom sets and has been praised as “inventive”, “cosmopolitan”, and "alluring."
Originally drawn to design by an interest in sculpture and special effects makeup, Ivins discovered a passion for theatre design at Miami University where he received his BFA in Theatre Design and Production. While attending Miami he studied Scenographie at DF JAMU Brno, Czech Republic under noted Architect and Scenographer, Jan Konečný. Ivins spent three successful years at the Santa Fe Opera where he started as Stage Crew and finished as Head of Costume Crafts. Todd received his MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. His collaborative skills, design proficiency, and breadth of knowledge have made him a trusted member of many Broadway design teams. Ivins’ scenic designs have been seen at The Walnut Street Theatre (Philadelphia), The 5th Avenue Theatre (Seattle), Milwaukee Rep, Theatre Row (NYC), Prince Music Theater (Philadelphia), Jewish Repertory Theater (NYC), and The Signature Theatre (DC), amongst others.
